Again TomTom didn't let us down and we made the journey with no problems, bypassing Gloucester. We visited the old house where Aunty Vera lived. It stands empty awaiting redevelopment now. Quite sad. We then found the cemetery (it was easy to miss and we missed it first time through) and visited the family graves. The weather was nice while we were there. We went back into Cinderford and found a surprisingly good, and cheap, cafe and had some lunch. Then found a bakery and bought some lardy cake - nice it was too. Sat near the Coal Miners memorial and demolished the cake. Cinderford isn't the most striking village in England so we made our way back to Dursley, which also isn't top of the tourist list either but seemed a lot less bleak. This is where T & C's Mum came from. You may have picked up the theme for today's trips. Wandered around, didn't buy any more cakes though.

Coal Miner's statue, Cinderford. |
We had planned an afternoon/evening with cousins Bruce and Tina, and Anne, who live in Dursley (well Anne was just visiting from Scotland). It was nice to meet with them as I hadn't met them before. After some reminiscing we went out to dinner at a nice pub, The Mariner's Arms, in Berkeley (pronounced either Berklee or Barklee depending on who you ask). Just Pub food but it was all cooked as requested and what it should have been. Thanks Bruice. When we left it was still light, and sunny. Got dark as we drove back to Cirencester.

The happy crew after a great dinner |
Started out as a sad day, but ended on a happy note.
