What's this all about then?

This is a diary of our trip to Italy and the UK in May/June 2012. Somewhere to put our activities and some pictures.
We don't want to forget anything!

Monday, 11 June 2012 - Glasgow Town

I had done my bit of genealogy, now it was Mike's turn.  His grandparents had lived in Glasgow before emigrating to New Zealand.  So Mike wanted to go and see their old house, which is still there.  We had looked on Google Maps etc. earlier and had seen that the street had changed dramatically - enough to have fooled TomTom, so we cunningly put in the street around the corner and navigated there, then walked.  We are getting used to these navigational challenges.  It was a nice drive to Glasgow, we found our street and walked to the old house.  It was as Mike had seen in other peoples photos.  Some modernisation at the back but basically the same house.  Nobody at home, but the neighbour chatted for a while.  Mike was happy so we left.  We didn't go further into Glasgow.

We came back via an outlet shopping centre.  It was a different route and quite interesting.  The shopping centre was quite good, quite a few shops.  I bought a pair of linen trousers from the M&S outlet.  Good price and nice trousers.  Invite me out to dinner and I'll show them to you.

Made our way back to Stirling.  Did a grocery shop in the supermarket.  I was impressed by the shelves of Single Malt Whisky at very good prices.  I wasn't allowed any as I was already lugging around a bottle of Limoncello from Italy.   With hindsight I should have got the whisky and consumed the Limoncello.  I'll know next time.

Tricia's diary summed it up as:
Visited Michael's G/P house in Glasgow.  Went to the shops.  Weather still cold.
